 I am running 2.7.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) pidgin was recently
 updated to this version. I get cpu spikes and pidgin actually spawns a
 whole bunch of processes and uses 100% of all four of my cores. I disabled
 all the plugins and that did not fix the problem (I only had the libnotify
 plugin and the nautilus integration checked, apparently, and I have not
 seen the libnotify bubbles lately, anyway. Sometimes it starts up fine,
 but it always eventually spikes. If I quit it does not die, only kill -9
 works, and then it will tend to spike all over again when I start it up.
 If there are files or information that can help please let me know.
