Comment(by psmith2100):

 I have looked at the debug and there is nothing there indicating to me
 that the proxy is asking for authentication.

 I assure you, regardless of what you see in the 2.6.6 debug, our HTTP and
 IM proxies do NOT require authentication. The HTTP proxy is used for
 general Internet access configured in IE and Firefox on port 8080 with no
 credentials.

 Our IM proxy is a Socks5 proxy and no authentication is required, and it
 works just fine with Pidgin 2.6.6, Trillian, and the official Yahoo
 client.

 My settings in Pidgin 2.6.6 have no credentials set and it connects just
 fine through our HTTP and IM proxy servers and the same is true for
 Trillian and Yahoo Messenger.

 authentication. I have never entered credentials into Pidgin, and I do
 not have to enter credentials for Trillian or Yahoo Messenger. Pidgin
 2.6.6 works with no proxy credentials entered in either the main proxy or
 the account proxy.

 > Look at the first debug log you posted. Start reading at line 18. You
 will clearly see the proxy server returning a response indicating that
 authentication is ''required'' by the proxy server.
