Comment:

 Ok, in my \spellcheck\share\enchant\myspell directory I have 3 files:
 en_US.aff, en_US.dic, and README_en_US.txt.  Could it possibly have
 something to do with gtkspell looking for 'en' instead of 'en_US'?

 And yes, I do have PHP installed, and it is first in my PATH variable.  Is
 that an issue?
