Comment:

 This is crashing when loading a png (one of the pngs that is distributed
 with Pidgin).

 It is possible that the real problem is elsewhere.

 Try getting another backtrace with `_MALLOC_CHECK` set to
 `2`([wiki:GetABacktrace#AdditionalNotesforThoseUsersWantingToDoMore
 Instructions]); hopefully that will tell us more.
