 Thanks. Previously I tried unchecking "Allow direct connections" on 2.6.6
 but it doesn't work. Did not realised that I still had libpurple version
 2.7.1 while my pidgin was 2.6.6. In addition, Empathy may randomly crash
 as well, but not as frequent as pidgin.

 Now I have upgraded everything to 2.7.1 and uncheck "Allow direct
 connections". So far for few days its working fine! At last, no
 intermittent crashes.
