 Apologies if I'm doing something stupid but file URLs (e.g.
 file://machinename/somefolder/helloworld.txt) don't seem to work
 correctly. They are correctly shown as URLs in the chat window but when
 you click on them an error dialog appears saying "An error occurred while
 opening the file."

 And just to confirm, yes all the URLs I've tried are accessible from my
 machine if I try to open them outside of Pidgin.
