 Something is interfering with your ability to connect to the Gtalk server.
 Do any of these connect from a terminal or do they time out?
   * `telnet talk.google.com 80`
   * `telnet talk.google.com 443`
   * `telnet talk.google.com 5222`
   * `telnet talk.google.com 5223`?
