 Some additional information:

Win 7 32-bit. Pidgin works perfectly with gtk+ 2.14.7. If I upgrade to
 gtk+ 2.16 I encounter this copy/paste bug.

If text is copied from a program that is not using gtk to run, only the
first copy to the clipboard since pidgin has been started will work. Any
subsequent attempts to paste new text in to pidgin results in pasting the
first copied text. This problem can be recreated by:

 -Run pidgin
-Copy text from notepad (e.g. "text a")
-Paste text in to a conversation window. "text a" would then be displayed
-Copy new text from notepad (e.g. "text b")
-Paste text in to a conversation window. "text a" would then be displayed,
despite having copied "text b" from notepad

Now, copy text from anywhere inside pidgin (e.g. another conversation or
text that you have written in the box) and it will copy paste as normal,
but if you try to copy anything else you will end up with "text a"

A solution to this bug would be excellent because I have programs that
depend on gtk 2.16 and higher.
