New description:

 I've had this problem for a while now.  A year ago pidgin would stop
 joining new channels if I had already joined more then 15-20 channels, now
 I can't join more then 10.  I don't see anything in the system logs, but I
 can get a backtrace if you want.  I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and I'm uptodate
 on the latest versions it's using.  I haven't tested this out on my Debian
 system at home, since I use another IRC client there, so I don't know if
 this is isolated to just Ubuntu or not (I should probably test that out,
 huh?)  Let me know if you need any more information.
