 I don't use "from last message sent" and not exactly sure what you mean by
 "wait long enough"... It appears to be a bug to me from what you say, but
 I'm not sure I totaly understand the delay thing, and can't reliably
 reproduce.

 Once again, I am not clear how my proposal to always "pop" the previous
 status when cancelling away fails to solve all problems for all people - I
 believe it does.

 I am also against removing the default if it can be avoided because it's
 useful for me and - as you say - has a long history. Changing a preference
 for one group only works against another group.
