 How to reproduce:
 -init libpurple
 -connect to a IM server using TLS (tested with XMPP and MSN)
 -quit libpurple
 -init libpurple
 -connect again

 Result:
 connection fails with
 (16:54:31) nss: Handshake failed  (-8128)
 which means:
 SEC_ERROR_NO_MODULE -8128 Security library: no security module
  can perform the requested operation.

 I am attaching a modified version of "nullclient", which does what
 mentioned above, in order to help reproducing the issue.
