 Well, after it didn't happen anymore for the last two days, I started
 playing around a bit with MusicTracker and its settings:

 Apparently, it is indeed the MusicTracker plugin that is causing MSN to
 connect by itself as soon as some music is being played and the tags are
 being transmitted via MPRIS. At least that's what it looked like in my
 tests right now. When I disabled MusicTracker again, it didn't happen
 anymore, but when re-enabling it, most of the time, it only took a few
 seconds or at least until the next song in the playlist for MSN to get
 back online.

 I disabled MusicTracker for my MSN account for now, as this seems to do
 the trick. And I guess I'll have to take this issue over to the
 [http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-musictracker/ people at MusicTracker's].
