 I now re-added all of my contacts and it seems like I didn't even really
 need to re-authorize them (though Pidgin "asked" for the authorization
 reason), they all appeared online (at least those who should) immediately
 again - though some of them weren't in front of the PC and they even
 appeared "under" the correct Alias (though I didn't specifiy it)
