 Hmm, I just built and installed an updated fink package for 2.7.0 on
 i386-darwin10 (the platform that was problematic) and was able to login to
 gmail (XMPP) just fine. Also works as before on powerpc-darwin8. Will
 solicit some feedback before motioning to close this ticket (as somehow
 fixed?).
