 I agree, this needs to be added as a feature. Not a patch or plugin.

 Adding the Facebook account type is necessary as well. If there are two
 XMPP chat services huge percentages of the user-base have, it's Facebook
 and Google Talk.

 The "custom icon" functionality should be added to the advanced tab and
 should default to Google Talk/Facebook/XMPP depending on which account the
 user selects during set up.

 For other XMPP accounts (i.e. work, school, etc), users can still easily
 select generic XMPP and then customize the icon at their choosing.

 But really, it's super confusing to have multiple XMPP accounts pointing
 to different services.
