 The mail notification seems to be a little simplistic, and pops up
 whenever there's a change in the number of messages; with Gmail/google
 talk at least. However, this is completely superfluous and rather annoying
 when the notification is for a smaller number because one just read a
 message... particularly since there is no timeout on the notice, and the
 close button is not a proper button/full height of the widget.

 Karmic Koala uses 2.6.2, there are no relevant updates in the changelog
 since then.
