Comment:

 Damn msn.
 This bug happens with empathy, digsby and maybe others too.

 The thing is because you get disconnected rather easily from the msn
 servers... and the application doesn't have a nice way to deal with this,
 so the message appears as sent but it's actually lost on the way, while
 you're left to think everything is good.

 The application, in this case pidgin (or libpurple, whatever), should be
 like "you idiot, message hasn't been sent" and maybe retry on it's own or
 give an option to resend.

 Even skype has something similar to that (shows a circle spinning around
 and stuff).
