 debug log looks like this:
 (22:02:55) util: Writing file prefs.xml to directory
 C:\Users\Mitch\AppData\Roaming\.purple
 (22:02:55) util: Writing file
 C:\Users\Mitch\AppData\Roaming\.purple\prefs.xml

 Sometimes it is asleep, sometimes it is only at the lockout.  Both
 situation cause this issue. It is a desktop, hardwired to the network.
