 I was afraid that might be the case (the gtk_prefs application is probably
 hitting the same libcairo-2 crash).

 What you can try is to delete/rename `<Pidgin Installation
 Directory>\Gtk\etc\gtk-2.0\gtkrc`.  This will tell GTK+ to use the "built-
 in" theme (which is different than the `MS-Windows` theme that Pidgin
 applies by default).

 If that prevents the crashing, I'm not sure what the next step will be,
 but at least we'll have an indication that it is somehow related to the
 theme.
