 I would agree with the original submitter here.

 Right now I have several XMPP accounts on:
  * Livejournal
  * Facebook
  * Google/Google Apps
 All buddies on all of these accounts appear with the XMPP icon next to
 them - whilst this is technically correct (the icon is based on the
 protocol), given the increasing prevalence of XMPP services on different
 providers, such a feature would definitely make things easier to manage.

 Eg. '''Make the protocol icon an account icon, defaulting to to an icon
 representing the protocol, but allowing the user to override it.'''

 Until pidgin stops crashing when you try to change a group on a facebook
 friend, it would also be handy to have an "at a glance" icon allowing one
 to see, for example, that you shouldn't move that buddy from pidgin.
