Comment(by thenext1):

 How I reproduced:

I removed the target contact (topy[dot]thesage[at]...) within Pidgin, went
to Hotmail to check if there were leftovers. I enabled logging and
restarted Pidgin. The logfile you see is from the restart.

First of all, you see that he still appears many times in the startup
phase in the logs, yet he's not on my hotmail or pidgin contact lists, but
if I go to file - new IM, pidgin autocompletes his email address meaning
 that it still knows.

At 23:51:12 communication resumes due to him adding me. I don't even see
the authorization prompt, but suddenly all my then-online contacts'
display names revert to either their email, or to a very old display name.
(I forgot to mention this the first time. They return back to normal one-
by-one during a variable amount of time, or by restarting pidgin.) Then,
 silence.

I did try another 2 times with the same result. Not even the request
 prompt.
I also tried to add him on my part, and the log showed this (about): "An
hidden contact with the same PUID already exists."

To solve, I went to hotmail, logged into web messenger, noticed I had
invitations, accepted them and now I can see them even from pidgin.
