 Sorry to double-post, but upon further investigation, it seems the problem
 may be partially with Pidgin after all. If you not only delete the old
 omega.contacts.msn.com, but also replace it with the certificate from
 https://omega.contacts.msn.com/, Pidgin will stop complaining. So while
 the problem isn't directly with Pidgin itself, it looks like Pidgin may
 not be updating saved certificates properly.
