 FWIW, Konqueror also doesn't trust https://omega.contacts.msn.com/

 Maybe MS balances load over a bunch of servers with now inconsistent
 certificates, and/or not all are "chained" properly.

 Like others, I just let Pidgin reconnect until it was happy.
 One cert it liked was for *.contacts.msn.com, 22 Jun 2010 ~ 22 Jun 2011
 and its SHA1 was
 C8:F3:B1:69:52:36:07:33:B5:02:1B:A2:B2:B4:CE:32:B9:68:37:36
