 Backporting is possible as long as there are the necessary tools to do it.
 The issues I'm seeing are on custom Linux installs on netbooks
 where gcc is unavailable ( :( ouch!...). Recompilation is out of the
 question, ATM.
 If push comes to shove, I may try to cross-compile, but this is far from
 trivial for me.

 I agree 100% that we wouldn't have this mess if the server side was
 properly configured.
 MS managed to "shine" again... :s
