 and attach it to this ticket.[[BR]]Is Pidgin working normally when this
 happens (i.e. is the interface responsive)?

 It hasn't "been fixed on-and-off" - it wasn't implemented at all and then
 it was implemented; I'm not aware of any regressions.

 I don't believe that the issues in #8654 affect Windows.
