 This is an issue for me as well. Steps to reproduce:
  1. use the default "Available" status (no message)
  1. wait for the auto-away to kick in and update the status (A message is
 added: I'm not here right now)
  1. move the mouse. The status is changed back to "Available", with the
 message "I'm not here right now".

 For me, this is a clear message leakage. I started with no message, and I
 now have a message set.
 [Nowhere did I change the status manually]

 I'm currently using Pidgin 2.6.6 under Ubuntu 10.4
