 Both people i know who use Pidgin (I *don't* use it, BTW.  I use Windows
 Live Messenger.) appear offline to me even when they're on...even after
 they've just sent me a message.  These are friends of mine, so they
 wouldn't have blocked me or anything intentionally.  And one of them was
 showing up fine til recently (maybe a couple of weeks ago).

 If i reply to their message immediately (or rather, within a pretty short
 time window, maybe less than 5 minutes), they will see the reply.
 Otherwise, it gets lost.  I can only send replies; I can't start a
 conversation with Pidgin users, as they never see the message.

 I do not have these problem with any buddies using the real MSN client,
 and only started having it with one of them when they either updated
 Pidgin or switched to it from Trillian.  This leads me to believe
 something's broken in Pidgin.
