Comment(by datallah):

 The crash is an unintended consequence of Pidgin 2.7.4 requiring Apple
 Bonjour 2.0.0 or newer (which is mentioned in the ChangeLog).

 I'll fix the crash shortly.

 In the meantime, you can get Bonjour working by upgrading Apple Bonjour on
 your machine using the link in the ChangeLog.
