* status: pending => new
Comment:
I've discovered a bit more info:
The status change messages are in fact valid, as the contact's name is
changing. What's going on is that each time a contact sends me a new
message, their name changes from "Name" to "(6) Name". After about 20
seconds, the name changes back to "Name", triggering another status change
message in my conversation window. This does NOT happen when I send a new
message to a contact, only when they send one to me.
Also, I have since installed the MSN-Pecan plugin. Since changing from
your native msn to msn-pecan this behaviour stops. Contacts' names no
longer change.
Based on this new information, this seems like planned behaviour. It
seems to me that Pidgin is adding the (6) (which turns into a devil
emoticon in the conversation window) to show me that a new message has
been received. If this is the case, how would I disable this behaviour?
I can't find an option that sounds like it's doing this. It's a nice
idea, but the constant status change messages it generates are too much.
Especially since their are already adequate notifications of new message
arrival.
