 Well here's the deal. I removed the entire .purple directory, uninstalled
 Pidgin, and then reinstalled Pidgin. It loaded without problem.

 As for a bug report, there was not one in the old .purple directory.
 Apparently I didn't install the debug symbols previously such that it
 likely wouldn't create one. Doh.

 Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to compare the files in old and new
 purple and see what comes up. Whether or not I find anything, I'll let you
 know.
