 In that scenario a lot of conversation content is lost between myself and
 the other chatter, and also I don't appear to receive new mail
 notifications either. As I said, windows live messenger works fine, so it
 isn't like the LAN is effectively blocking current version MSN traffic. It
 would appear that windows live messenger works around such a block anyway,
 if one were in place, and pidgin msn does not.
