#11110: Pidgin appears to leak DNS for Jabber accounts
-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------
 Reporter:  ioerror                  |        Owner:  deryni
     Type:  defect                   |       Status:  closed
Milestone:  2.6.6                    |    Component:  XMPP
  Version:  2.6.4                    |   Resolution:  fixed
 Keywords:  jabber security privacy  |

Comment(by kjo):

 There is still a DNS leak with XMPP accounts in the following case:

  * setup an XMPP account whith a SOCKS5 local proxy as described above
  * disconnect from the network, e.g. by unpligging ethernet cable
  * reconnect e.g. by replugging ethernet cable

 Pidgin then automagically reconnects to the accounts, but leaks these
 requests:

 {{{
 IP localhost.58656 > nameserver.domain: 21791+ TXT?
 _xmppconnect.domain.tld. (53)
 IP localhost.50104 > nameserver.domain: 21791+ TXT?
 _xmppconnect.domain.tld. (53)
 }}}
