 Another data point that may help with this issue: I have the "Use HTTP
 Method" checked on the Advanced tab for the account. I turned this on
 because I was having trouble connecting to MSN over VPN (which I need in
 order to work from home), and checking that box got over that problem.

 I don't know if this is helpful or if the OP also had this setting on. But
 just in case, now you know.
