#13893: Redundant notification icon overlapping pidgin menu
-------------------+--------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: cromo | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: libpurple
Version: 2.7.11 | Keywords: icon libpurple ubuntu notification
-------------------+--------------------------------------------------------
I have a weird problem here with (apparently) libpurple support of pidgin.
When I receive a new message, I am notified using libpurple AND a
yellowish new message icon that is overlaying pidgin menu (next to the
Help). That wouldn't much of a problem if opening the arriving message
would hide the other notification, but this is not the case - i.e. I can
click on both that yellowish icon AND libupurple notification effectively
opening two windows, one of which comes empty. Please also note that
libnotify "new message" icon will not change to "no messages" icon until I
open the other window using that yellowish icon.
Now the most interesting part is that if I close both of chat windows one
by one, pidgin crashes.
There are also other weird behaviours, eg. if I receive some message while
pidgin is not running, I will not be notified via libpurple next time I
start it, only by that yellowish message icon. Or I get no libpurple
notification for the first couple of messages received after (fresh)
starting pidgin.
I can reproduce these bug with a clean .pidgin configuration.
Backtrace, prefs.xml and some screenshoots attached.
OS: Ubuntu 10.10
Pidgin package: 2.7.11-1ubuntu0+pidgin1.10.10 (from
