#14476: Can't see or hear each other with a gmail xmpp user.
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------
Reporter: hobarrera | Owner: Maiku
Type: defect | Status: new
Component: Voice and Video | Version: 2.9.0
Keywords: gmail xmpp |

I've been trying to voice+video chat with a gmail user (him on the web
interface, me on pidgin), but can't get this to work.
The gmail user sends the voice+video request and I get it, and accept.
The vv-chat starts, but I see just plain black, and so does the other
person. We each see our respective selves ok.
I've started testing using my laptop with my neighbours wifi, and my PC
straight to the internet.
My pidgin version is the latest 2.9.0.
I've verified that I have the necesary gstreamer libraries (I have all of
them installed actually :P).
Running
$ gst-inspect-0.10 x264enc
Seems to report the codec as installed properly.
Since I wanted to discard any network/proxy/etc problems, I unplugged my
router, and connected my PC directly to the ethernet cable my ISP gives
me. They give me a STATIC IP and no filters whatsoever, so that mean no
NAT in this case.
The issue still persisted.
An interesting fact, is that when the gmail contact tries to add vv to the
chat, nothing is recieved by me (on the pidgin end). (Nothing even
appears in the debug window, on Level:ALL).
I've noticed that the pidgin VV windows still says "Calling..."; so I'm
guessing that the video link is not being established.
I'm attaching the output of the debug window, hope this helps. If
anything else is needed in order to find the source of this problem, just
tell me, I'll be happy to provide any aditional information.
I've the following installed (some may not be relevant, but better to give
too much than lack info):
{{{
gstreamer0.10
gstreamer0.10-bad
gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins
gstreamer0.10-base
gstreamer0.10-base-plugins
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-good
gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
gstreamer0.10-python
gstreamer0.10-ugly
gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins
}}}
I also tried removing the STUN and TURN servers from my configuration. In
this case, I can see the gmail user from pidgin, but not viceversa. The
image quality WAS very poor though, and froze after a minute or so.
