  1. Go to {{{Preferences > Status / Idle > Status at Startup}}}
  1. Uncheck "Use status from last exit at startup
  1. Select "Offline" from the "Status to apply at startup" list
  1. Hit the Close button
  1. Restart Pidgin

 After I restart Pidgin, when I go back to {{{Preferences > Status / Idle >
 Status at Startup}}}, the "Status to apply at startup" is blank (it has no
 items selected). Perhaps this is not being saved?
