I changed my password in yahoo online using the y! website.
I was able to login into the website.
Now I started pidgin and it told me: wrong password
I edited the y! account using a password manager which "typed" the
password letter by letter in the password field.
I saved the password and retried it: wrong password (once again).
Now I thought: what is going on here. So I opened the accounts.xml and
took a look at the entry. I noticed that the special character [ was not
saved. I retried the password changing and noticed that there is a missing
letter in the password field. So I "typed" the password to the browser's
address bar and copyed it using CTRL+C and V to the password field and it
worked. Now I do not know I this is pidgin bug and a bug of my password
manager (Alle Meine Passworte, german). This is the first time I noticed
such a problem and I have several passwords using those characters.

Comment:
So you're saying that you had to enter your password with "%5B" instead of
"["?
When you changed your password on Yahoo's website, did you type your
password in there manually, or did your password manager enter it?
