 Last version to work properly with IRC was

 pidgin_2.7.9-1_i386.deb

 Versions that had various issues in IRC are:

 pidgin_2.9.0-1_i386.deb
 pidgin_2.9.0-3_i386.deb
 pidgin_2.10.0-1_i386.deb

 The older one that was fine with IRC had some other issue, but I've been
 so annoyed by the IRC issues that I wish I'd never upgraded!

 Let me list some of them:

 Failing to recognise people leaving and entering the room properly
 resulting in ever increasing list of people in the room that is false
 which includes exact duplicates of anyone that dropped out with a time
 out.

 Failing to realise that it's not connected. IE, times out from other users
 perspectives and stays appearing online, and appearing to send messages
 which are not being sent because its not connected anymore.

 Crashing when trying to tab complete nicks whose user is not online at all
 anymore but appears to be in the room 4 times, for example.

 Note, users correctly appear offline and online in the buddy list, just
 not the room list.

 Tab completion uses the full room list and offers the same thing multiple
 time as options for an ambiguous completion.

 Possibly other things.

 Whatever changed between 2.7 and 2.9 sure screwed IRC. I updated the
 pidgin plugin pack too, versions of that are as follows:

 I just closed two other old bugs that I reported some years ago that were
 fixed at some point without closing the issues, I guess in the process of
 other work. Give me browny points for those :-)
