 There are RPMs for pidgin 2.10.0, for example
 [http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Apps/openSUSE_11.3/] and
 they get updated pretty fast.

 What protocol "says" you have 4 emails? Is this pidgin or a plugin?
