Comment:

 Personally, I prefer an indication that logging has been enabled/disabled
 in the log, rather than differences between what one may have thought was
 said during a conversation and missing text in the log being mistaken for
 the log mysteriously vanishing or general user brain fail.

 I suspect what you may be after might be implementable in a plugin, but
 I've not looked at the code.
