 That isn't the best place to get the plugin from. You should download the
 source tarball for the release of pidgin that you are running (though that
 plugin hasn't changed in a while so any recent version is likely to be
 fine). Then extract the source, enter the toplevel source directory, run
 './configure --disable-missing-dependencies'. If that finishes
 successfully you should then enter the pidgin/plugins/ directory and run
 'make contact_priority.so'. That should create the contact_priority.so
 file in the plugins/ directory which you can then copy to
 ~/.purple/plugins and use.
