 Users should be able to show/hide status icons (and have the usernames on
 their list shift significantly to the left) just as they are able to
 show/hide protocol icons. This would free up desktop space for those of us
 who value it.

 Buddies' statuses would still be visible by hovering usernames with the
 mouse, or intuited if buddies are sorted by status (and then
 alphabetically).
