 I am having the exact same issue. The trouble started for me about a month
 ago. I also have the latest version installed, and I've tried deleting and
 recreating the account. I tried changing the encryption in the advanced
 tab as well, but that doesn't help either. Google talk and the web
 interface both work for me, but pidgin can't connect anymore. Notable that
 the trouble started one day with no apparent modifications made.
