 I am running a Debian VM on my ESXi box for day to day work.  I have been
 reliably using Finch, with debs a la APT, for months now.  Yesterday, that
 all seemed to change.  I got seg faults restarting it with screen, and
 finally figure out finch was the problem.  I also tried Pidgin out of
 curiosity, and it is borked too.  I tried purge the packages and
 reinstalling, including updates for all dependent packages, but that did
 not help either.  I got pidgin-dbg with APT now, and below are the
 backtraces.  Any thoughts?
