 I'm having the same problem, all the time which makes MSN over Pidgin
 totally unusable. It may also take up to 30 minutes before Pidgin actually
 notifies that there is a problem, but other users ain't able to send any
 messages to you.

 I'm running Pidgin under Ubuntu and have tried to reinstall both Pidgin
 and libpurple without success. No firewalls are used and as other clients
 works without this issue you could assume it has nothing to do with the
 internet connection.
