Comment(by deryni):

 The first attempt sends an empty <body> and a data-less <a> (it has the
 correct href but no textual data).

 The second attempt sends correctly.

 The third attempt blows up badly throwing XML parsing errors and appears
 to actually be two 1014 urls back-to-back (and then some corruption).

 I have no idea what that all means I just figured I'd mention it to save
 someone else from needing to figure it out.
