New description:
I have a strange lockup in Pidgin when pasting text from a website.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Use Chromium to navigate to
http://docs.python.org/library/os.path.html
2) Maximize the window and use CTRL-F to search in page for "expandvars"
without the quotes
3) You'll locate a paragraph (like in the screenshot
[http://imgur.com/Kydzx] ) which you'll have to select and copy to the
clipboard (it must include the orange highlight from the search); make
sure you select up to the ending ".", not more.
4) Paste that paragraph in pidgin's chat window; it should lock in an
infinite (?) loop (see backtraces).
{{{
% cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=10.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=maverick
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 10.10"
}}}
I'm attaching a backtrace and a ldd dump.
PS: I could only reproduce this using Chromium (my version is 9.0.597.98
(74359) Ubuntu 10.10)
