 Cannot figure out how I reproduced this issue back with 2.5.8.  Seems okay
 now - got AIM buddies online and their buddy icons are showing.  Had a
 friend add a status line and then remove it and it behaved as expected
 (she was on Digsby and not the official AIM client FWIW).

 The only thing I can think of is doing a Buddies - Get User Info.  There
 is no buddy icon in this dialog that pops up...so not sure if this was
 what the OP meant.

 I guess if the OP doesn't respond, close off the ticket.
