 Okay, so a bit more info:

 * This seems to occur even if I totally blow away my entire .purple
 directory (I had to blow away .gaim too).  The account connects, shows
 some buddies, and then dies.

 * I will try this in the next few days on my clean windows 2000 VM to see
 if it happens there.  (This particular crash is on a "hard" windows
 machine).

 * Despite installing the debug symbols, the pidgin.RPT doesn't seem very
 helpful considering the kind of coredumps I'm used to under unix.
