Comment:

 Whether you see the text shortcuts turn into smiley images locally doesn't
 affect whether your friend will. So if the normal ICQ clients support :D
 and =-O as smileys (and pidgin doesn't) then they will work when you type
 them in even when you don't see them and conversely when your friend
 inserts the smiley images on their end you will see :D and =-O on your end
 instead of the images.

 The above aside both the default and small smiley themes that ship with
 pidgin support both :-D and :D for the excited smiley and they both
 support =-O for the shocked smiley. It looks like we don't support =o or
 =-o though (though =-o may work as it is a default smiley just not an ICQ
 smiley, but I don't recall offhand how the smiley themes compose).

 Do you know if ICQ has a listing of the official default smileys
 somewhere?
